Maths is taught in St Laurence's as specified by the Department of Education & Skills in the Revised Primary School Curriculum (1999).
The Infants maths programme uses "Ready Set Maths" which is an activity based programme. Major investment in materials has been made to implement this programme effectively.
The Aistear programme was introduced to Senior Infants in September 2014. The teachers are incorporating activity-based maths as part of this programme.
1st to 6th Classes use a variety of books from Busy at Maths to Mathemagic, some of which come under the book rental scheme. Teachers are involved in implementing the PDST (Professional Development Service for Teachers) guidelines for teaching place value, decimals, percentages and fractions. Greater emphasis is being placed on using manipulatives, teacher made games and co-operative learning in groups.
